Stories from Set:
Our talented cinematographer got in a car accident on the way to set while towing all of our equipment. While other people would have gone home for the day, Dave instead loaded any vital equipment into another vehicle, drove to set, and we still got all our shots. It was the last day I could be in town to shoot, so if he hadn't have done that, we probably wouldn't have finished the film.
Director's Statement:
I wrote and directed "Passing" because I wanted to show a story that demonstrates how often we as members of a society make different judgements, both positive and negative, about the people we see around us, when often times we never truly know what a person is going through. Often these judgements are inaccurate, despite the credit we give them.
I think it’s human nature to look at other people as being happier and having an easier life than our own, when really, few people may live such a life. Behind closed doors lie the secrets and pains of the heart, and perhaps if we knew the truth about each other, we would realize just how fortunate we are and be more grateful for the life we lead.
Despite the sadness displayed in the film, it is my wish viewers can see past the heartache to the greater message of hope and joy. While life may be hard on occasion, we still have a lot to live for.
